For a privacy or access request, email info@juwelier.co.za and mark it for the Information Officer. Our Information Officer is Darryl van der Velde. Contact him through this email address or the telephone number above for privacy and access-to-records requests.

Information and purposes

Our hosting and security providers process technical information such as IP addresses, request times, browser details and security logs to deliver and protect the website. Your language preference is stored in your browser. We obtain enquiry information directly from you; payment confirmations, delivery updates and return details may also come from the providers involved in your order. If you send an enquiry, we receive the contact details, message and product choices that you choose to include. Order, delivery, payment-reference and return information is processed when needed to fulfil an agreed transaction, meet a legal obligation, prevent fraud or handle a dispute. We do not ask for banking passwords or card details through this website.

Email and WhatsApp requests

The website prepares a draft containing your selected product and options. It does not automatically send the draft or create a customer account. You choose to send it using your own email or WhatsApp application. Those services process information under their own privacy terms. We use an enquiry to respond to your request, not to enrol you in marketing automatically. Supplying contact details is voluntary, but without a way to reply we cannot provide a personal quotation.

Service providers and international processing

Information is shared only as needed with service providers supporting hosting, security, email, communications, payments, delivery and order fulfilment, or where required by law. Some providers process information outside South Africa. Applicable operator arrangements and cross-border safeguards must protect the information as required by POPIA. We do not sell personal information. External grading-report or messaging links take you to services governed by their own privacy notices.

Browser storage and optional tracking

We store only the selected language in the website’s preference storage. It remains until you change it or clear this website’s browser storage. Clearing it resets your language preference. We have not added advertising pixels, behavioural analytics or an embedded social-media chat widget. The WhatsApp link opens only when you choose it. Hosting security may use necessary cookies or technical storage. Fonts are served by this website. Product photographs are delivered through this website where possible. Optional tracking, if introduced, requires an updated notice and any legally required choice before activation.

Retention and security

We retain information only for the purpose for which it is needed, for applicable legal record-keeping, or to resolve a dispute. Obsolete enquiry information is reviewed for deletion or de-identification. Access controls, encrypted transport and restricted service access are used to protect information. No website can promise absolute security. Where there are reasonable grounds to believe that personal information has been accessed or acquired by an unauthorised person, we will notify the Information Regulator and identifiable affected people as soon as reasonably possible, subject to lawful notification exceptions.

Your choices and rights

You may ask whether we hold your information, request access or correction, object to processing where the law permits, withdraw consent where processing relies on it, or request deletion subject to lawful retention. We may request proportionate identity verification. You can also complain to the Information Regulator. Contact info@juwelier.co.za for assistance. We will not refuse a statutory request merely because you decline marketing.

Why processing is permitted

Depending on the purpose, processing rests on steps needed for your requested quotation or contract, a legal obligation, a legitimate interest such as website security or resolving a dispute, or your consent where required. Browsing is not blanket consent to unrelated uses. If required order or delivery information is withheld, we may be unable to fulfil that request. Ask us which information is necessary for your particular transaction.

Marketing and information about other people

An enquiry does not subscribe you to a mailing list. Any electronic direct marketing must have a lawful basis under POPIA and a way to opt out. You can object through our contact email; essential order messages are separate from promotions. If you provide a gift recipient’s details, supply only what is needed for delivery and ensure you may share it. Please do not send unnecessary identity documents or sensitive personal details in an initial enquiry.

Access requests and complaints

Address requests to Darryl van der Velde, Information Officer, at the email or postal contact above. Describe the information or record and the action you need. For a formal access-to-records request under PAIA, the Regulator’s guide and Form 2 explain the procedure. This notice is not a PAIA manual. You may complain directly to the Regulator without first exhausting our internal process.

Information Regulator: POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za (privacy) or PAIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za (access to records); telephone 010 023 5200; Woodmead North Office Park, 54 Maxwell Drive, Woodmead, Johannesburg, 2191. See the current complaint instructions.

The revision date identifies the current notice. Changes will be published here. A revised notice does not itself authorise a new use that requires your consent. Contact our Information Officer if you need clarification about a provider, retention period or the handling of a particular record.
